A major problem in Afghanistan is lack of information by the general public on topics that we are trying to address, such as the Afghan Constitution, democracy, elections, citizens’ rights, women’s rights, violence against women, and others. To foster discussion on these concepts, , the Roqia Center (Kabultec’s sister organization in Afghanistan) has participated in many seminars and conferences.

In the beginning, we held conferences regarding the Constitution and women’s rights both in Kabul and in the provinces. Notably, we participated with Negar Association to hold a 1,000-woman conference in Kabul, then for the review of the draft Afghan Constitution we participated in Negar’s 2000-woman conference.

Our conferences and seminars are typically in the areas of women’s rights, democracy and elections, and violence against women.  We have also several conferences of our own to review women’s rights. Before the Afghan elections of 2005, 2009, and 2013, we held seminars held in several provinces, and brought women from surrounding provinces to Kabul to talk about election issues for female candidates. We have held seminars in several provinces on the law forbidding violence against women.

In addition to seminars, the Roqia Center has participated in numerous professional conferences–both inside Afghanistan and outside–by giving invited talks or participating as a panel discussion member. Please see our Talks/Symposia page for more information.
